Actually, it's 226 confirmed cases in the United States now.

CDC H1N1 Flu

I think that source should suffice.

Here's the global information:

http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_05_03a/en/index.html

I'd just like to point out that these are not new cases. These are just the tests they have finally finished. The testing hasn't been completed on all of the cases yet.

It was on every major national television channel today on TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a national press conference by the CDC. Most Americans saw it. Since it was on TV, there is no link.

Others here will confirm what I am stating is fact, for you, soon, as most people saw it.

ok now, calm down. No need for all the exclamation marks. I'll ask the mod if just giving information without a link is acceptable.
Quoting stats without a link is heresay.

But honestly that was the update from the news, about what everyone had expected. I'll try to find a video clip and post it.

Like I said in another thread, I think the fear mongering should stop -- it's not helping anyone. The media are guilty of this, some politicians are guilty of this (particularly the VP himself) and many individuals are guilty of this, including a few forumers on CD.

Just give people the FACTS, tell them what to do if they happen to get sick and for now, the message should be "don't panic". We have a far better chance of containing this than we did in 1918, when the most recent flu pandemic occurred. Don't forget, that was a long time ago, World War I was still going on and many people had far more limited access to healthcare, medication and information.

Look, bash me all you want, but I just don't think we should be hitting the panic button yet.
