Recently diagnosed with eye floaters; an age-related condition of the eye

Anyone else living with this eye problem? Any comments? Any suggestions on how to cope with it ?

Ah yes... I try to deal with them like I do all of the other "growing older" surprises. With humor. I am positively phobic about wasps...I always duck when one gets too close. Sometimes I duck and realize it was just a floater.

Drink water out of a Styrofoam cup and try to count the floaters.

Hubby thinks it is highly amusing when I try to swat invisible gnats...

I have had them for 3-4 years now, and they bother me the most when I'm around flourescent lighting or when I have too much time on my hands and too few distractions going on.

Sometimes, you think you see insects flying around the room, only to find out they're floaters. I just pray it doesn't get any worse.

But if you concentrate on them too much, it could drive you crazy. It's just part of the aging process.

But cheer up! Things could be worse: you could be getting younger every day!

While they are distracting when a new one appears, I get used to them quickly and rally don't notice them much. If you start to see flashes of colors, see an opthalmologist ASAP as this is a sign of retinal separation. It can be OK or it can lead to blindness, get it checked.

I recently had cataract surgery and after my first one was done, I had a BIG floater going on. When I told my doctor, she said it probably had always been there but because of the cataract, I couldn't see it. It has since cleared up and I don't see it anymore.

I am with the " swatting invisible insect" group.
I notice mine most when I am driving on a foggy day.
They do come and go.

I unfortunately have a permanent one. It looks like a bunch of dots that make up what looks to be...Japan. ROTFL

I got mine with my second pregnancy. It's almost 2 years later and I still have it. It is annoying, large, and I hate it.

There is a doctor that does successful laser surgery on these--he's in New Jersey. I think there is one that does it in CA as well. High success rates in comparison to the conventional surgery.
