So in this case the insurance company wipes up while the doctor loses.
I really don’t know what type of health insurance you have, but mine is about 10 dollars per visit or 20 for a specialist.

I think you need a prescription from a doc to allow you to ask that question.

Have you ever thought of Mexico to buy pharmaceutical drugs?
I'm closer to the Canadian border, but even then, it is a six hour drive.

There are risks to everything. I don't advocate having all meds sitting on the shelf, but maybe the pharmacist should be able to dispense without prescription. Then he/she can explain all warnings, side effects, or drug interactions to you. Ironically, Albuterol (Proventyl) is a lot safer than epinephrine, since it is more selective and has less cardiac effects, yet epinephrine is sold OTC.

One thing you might want to do if you'd like to not have to take so many prescriptions is figure out the underlying cause of your conditions.
My asthma is pretty mild. Which means that I may go weeks without using the inhaler, which also means that when I need it, I may not know where the hell did I leave it. My wife is also asthmatic and sometimes she 'steals' my inhaler when she can't find hers.

We need a RX for everything so the insurance companies can pay a few pennies while we pay a high co-pay!

Actually, if you could buy drugs without prescriptions, the cost of healthcare would go down. Let's say that the insurance company would only pay if you have a prescription. With most generic drugs costing less than $10, I would rather pay cash for them than sitting in the doctor's office for two hours. So you pay $10 and the insurance co. pays nothing.

Under the present system, the insurance co. has to pay $100 to your doctor, you have to pay your copay ($5), and then the insurance co. pays for the meds. And that's assuming that the doctor doesn't make you have a lab or other unnecessary test done.

Generally whatever foods you crave the most are doing the most harm to your body. For example, Dairy products and Wheat products create a lot of mucous which exacerbate asthma. If you stop eating mucous producing foods; give your immune system a chance to get nice and strong for several months, you may find you no longer have asthma or need your inhaler.
A doctor who has been to medical school for natural medicine would be able to further help you do this and recommend natural medicnes to expedite the process and get you to the point where you could go back to your conventional medical doctor who would then tell you you no longer needed the medications. There are many many people who are able to do this but it means doing something that is a little different from what the masses do (which is to just continue to take prescription drugs for the rst of their lives). If you did what I'm suggesting, you could actually fully regain your health or at worst drasticly reduce your need for so many prescriptions.

Absolutely, positively FALSE....

Nothing more than an old wive's tale. There is no scientific evidence to support that theory which was debunked years ago.

What you are proposing is misleading and dangerous. Asthma deaths are on the rise and patients with a diagnosis of asthma NEED to have a readily available rescue inhaler.

Drugs on the other hand have been manipulated to provide certain desired results but at the same time there can also be side effects that could cause more harm. Here for example are the side effects of Proventil:

SIDE EFFECTS: Side effects include nervousness, tremor, headache, palpitations, fast heart rate, elevated blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, and heartburn. Throat irritation and nosebleeds can also occur. Allergic reactions may rarely occur and may manifest as rash, hives, swelling, bronchospasm, or anaphylaxis (shock). Worsening of diabetes and lowering of potassium have also been reported. In rare patients, inhaled albuterol can paradoxically precipitate life-threatening bronchospasm

and legal drugs even kill more people than illegal drugs according to this NY Times article and years of Medical Journals reporting..so why risk your health and your life? At least be VERY familiar with the side effects and potential conflicts

In fact you can't even count on one hand the number of deaths from natural medicine UNLESS it was due to and interference with a prescription drug. That is because natural medicine is food based. You can't die from eating too many apples or not very easily anyway.
