I've always been fond of afternoon naps, but in the past month or so, I wake up from them feeling very nauseous. It lasts for about a half hour, and usually helps if I eat something. I am 27 and female, and no, it is not possible that I'm pregnant. I haven't changed my sleeping or eating pattern, and it doesn't matter how long the nap is, I still feel sick upon waking up. I have a doctor's appt next week, but am wondering in the meantime if anyone else experiences this and knows why it happens. Thanks!

Nope. Everything pretty much the same as always.

sometimes after an afternoon nap (although i rarely take them) i experience acid indigestion and i've always wondered why.
for you, it's possible that it's an emotional response due to dreams or childhood associations with napping.
the belly is often where we experience emotional "holding", trauma, etc.
just a thought.

Could it be because of the summer heat? I have terrible air conditioning and find that I feel sick when I wake up from a nap or sometimes in the morning, but it's just because of the summer heat. If I take a nap in our downstairs which is cool I do not have this problem. So consider that. Yes, I would say I sometimes feel quite sick after waking up from a nap/sleep in the heat.

If you eat within an hour or two of lying down for a nap, it could be acid reflux.

While I have no advice for you since you have always taken naps, I can tell you that I do not take them for your reasons above.

They make me feel sick to my stomach upon waking, I get a headache and I never quite feel awake again for the whole day.
