Okay, then, I'd say they are speaking of the results of Lyme disease: neurological dysfunction, arthritic issues, etc. -- not the disease itself, but the complications from the disease--the aftermath! Once the damage is done, it is not reversible!

But I can certainly understand your doubts if they don't portray it as the result of...rather than active Lyme Disease!

It took two rounds of Doxy to cure mine. I will forever have the lasting effects. Arthritis does not run in my family. I am the first. It was caused by the LD.

Sorry it wasn't caught earlier, Coyote_Blond. All too frequently this type of disease just seems like a mild or even an acute flu that will pass.

Hope you are taking some glucosamine to relieve some of the arthritic pain!

I suppose living prior in the desert rather failed to enlighten me when it came to ticks. And despite having the flu shot, by May I assumed somehow I'd caught some later strain of the flu. *guh* Learned my lesson the hard way! Yes, I take Glucosamine as well as daily anti-inflammatory/pain killers. They had me on 10 a day at one point just to walk. I'm trying to again return to tae bo. Moving to a warmer climate again is going to help. Thanks for the kindness! Coyote

Has it caused you to have any heart problems or memory loss?

I've only known one person who recognized the possibility of Lyme Disease, and she was a sharp social worker. She figured it out in about two days, got the diagnosis and was treated; no after effects.

But my son contracted it, and he is an anthro-biologist and never gave it any thought and has quite a few complications with Lyme's Disease and an earlier exposure to malaria. The sweats ain't fun!

Don't be hard on yourself, and take good care. You probably will feel better in a climate with less humidity, and more stable barometric pressure.

We both have had our hearts monitored once a year. Mine now has an irregular heartbeat they contribute to the LD but it's supposedly harmless. hmmfff

My son will be tested 1x a year until he's 17.
