Vit B-12
How much is the max you should take a day to help in weight loss? I know they have the shots and was wondering if you could match over the counter with that?

I don't think there is any real set number that anyone can agree on, the regular recommendation is between 2-3 micrograms a day. A bit above that it tends to just get excreted by the body. Too much more then the body can handle is often characterized by itchiness, red skin, the trots, and rashes. Above 20 micrograms a day or you start to have real permanent detrimental effects, including destruction of the optic nerve.

Destuction of the optic nerve ONLY occurs if there is ALREADY a rare genetic disease of the optic nerve called Leber's disease.
Because B12 is poorly absorbed one can take up to 5000 MCG per day and the ONLY side effect may be diaria

It's rare, but it's also very very hard tell if some one has it...I'd rather play devils advocate, since I'm not a doctor and know nothing about the posters medical history, and not give people advice to take a great deal of a chemical that might destroy their eyesight (even if it's really rare, you wouldn't know till it's happening). Best to talk to a doctor about it so they can monitor if some one is taking a ton of it.
