Sprained my ankle about a month ago, and its still hurting every time I turn my ankle at all, as well as when I simply rest it in different positions. I'm unemployed and a college student with no insurance. I'm wondering where I should go to see about having this checked out.

Pain is your body's way of telling you to "rest me."

Stay off of your ankle as much as possible!!!

You do not need to go to a doctor if it is a sprain. Chances are likely that it is nothing more. If you go they will give you some pills and dangerous and xrays you do not need.

X rays that are not needed are bad for your health.

Chances are if you go to a clinic or the ER you will end up picking up some viral/bacterial infection much more serious than a little sprain.

If the pain still persists after a week, then MAYBE you should seek help since it could be something more serious.

This is DEFINITELY something you can and should take care of on your own

Doies not your school have a student health clinic? Most colleges/universities I know have one. and it's cheap if not free for students.

Go to the hospital clinic, if you are bellow the poverty line (you said you are unemployed you should qualify), then it should be free.
Most hospital have a 100% write off at the 100% poverty line. If you are higher then it goes up a little bit, but it should still be extremely cheap or free. Even if you are higher they have discounts prices up to 200% poverty line.
For example if you are at the 110 poverty line, you will get bill a 10% or 15% of your final bill, usually at 100% is completely free.
To have an idea of the poverty line here is a table of 2007 (they are higher in 2009)
