Post Dislocated my ring finger

So I dislocated that sucker 12 days ago, but managed to pop it back into place when it happened.(with a little help with a buzz that I already had) Man, did it look funky!!!!! The top of my finger was kinda up ontop of the backside of my finger, and maybe backwards. My question is; What is the length of time until one gets full flexability of a dislocated finger? I know it may depend on the severity of the injury, but I can manage to bend it half-way right now. I did have it in a homemade splint, and iced it 2x a day, and it looks a lot better. The bruising is gone, but the stiffness remains, and that might be around a bit longer......don't know. Has anyone had this happen, and what did you do to recover from this? I am an active person, I HATE being injured!!! I will still play golf this weekend, it may help my swing! Any advise would be appreciative............thanks!

I dislocated that finger on my left hand maybe 30 yrs ago. The top half was lying over on the bottom half of my pinkie, at a weird angle. After about 10 days, to let the blood get re-absorbed, I had to have surgery as a piece of bone was pulled off when it dislocated. Under local anesthetic and no big deal. I have full funciton of that finger.

I popped my thumb out as a kid and it looked wild. Popped my left shoulder out, and man did that hurt, I whimpered like a wounded dog (that one required an ER doc to put it back in.) Heat and anti inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen) would be my suggestion.

Imp?Ro42 is on a distinguished road
I've dislocated my thumb (got it stuck on a handle) and my shoulder (playing an intense game of twister with a friend) before. Both times I popped them back in with no help. They hurt, but I didn't experience any change in their appearances.

I wish mine were that easy. When I popped my thumb out, once it went back in my hand ballooned up and turned purple. My shoulder required a sling and was sore as hell for about a week. Since that injury it has come out of socket several times, although not in years.

I dislocated my index finger awhile back.
It didn't get popped back in till about 5 hours later...that really hurt.
Turns out though, it hurt more than just a dislocated knuckle (my index knuckle was way back over by my thumb knuckle)
I had managed to fracture the first joint at the top of my index finger...but didn't know till after the knuckle was popped back in...
are you sure you ONLY dislocated it?
sorry not trying to be a buzzkill, just throwing out past experiences here.

I believe I had fractured the first joint as well. When I put it back in place, I heard a distictive crack, two of them actually. It was purple at that area for a week, but has since faded away. More than likely I had a fracture too, but it doesn't hurt when I press on it. Time is a healer I guess. Thanks for input and experiences you all had.

Once it is not purple or bruised looking, you should have it x-rayed to make sure the bone is healing straight. You could have problems as you age!
