Default Stopped taking Ambien CR...feeling better

I decided to try and stop my Ambien CR to see if my headaches and neck and jaw pain were any better. It has been about five or six days and I think there has been a big improvement. I am taking melatonin along with valerian root at night. I also believe that I am more clear headed during the day so far and actually my panic attacks are less although I'm not sure. I'm thinking I might keep some Ambien around in case of emergency but again not sure if I take it once if I might get stuck back on that merry go round Any comments or thoughts on any of this???Thanks!!

I only tried Ambien once.
I usually use prescription sleep aids when I travel overseas, and that's when I tried it.
It made me feel asleep when I was awake, and awake when I was asleep.
Basically I felt dreamy all the time--not properly asleep, not properly conscious.
I ended up using Benadryl on the trip, and I threw away the Ambien.
It may work for some people, but I hated it.
Just my .

alaskanmax is on a distinguished road
Melatonin works great for helping you sleep or with jet lag. Valerian is also good as well as many different essential oils. Much better to stick with natural than with prescription sleep aids.

I suffer from bouts of bad insomnia here and there. I was taking Ambien for a while...worked well, then my body started getting used to it. Its only for SHORT TERM INSOMNIA....meaning you shouldnt take it every night all the time. Anyhow, it started to make me feel very strange in the mornings....and I hated the way it would put me to sleep (very strange out of body experiences). So I quit cold turkey and the rebound insomnia was VERY bad...but once I made it through that difficult time in my life, I was much better off in the end. Currently, I only take Melatonin at night. Ambien is a horrible drug in my opinion. Its OK to re-set your clock, but once you are re-set, throw that junk away. Never rely on it long term.

Chamomile tea also helps knock you out.

I don't know the particulars in what is mentioned above but of the people I have come across with insomnia there is usually some simple factor that can be adjusted to help them sleep such as not pounding down red bulls and coffee all day or being physically inactive.
