What can I do? They are making the flu shot mandatory. No excuses. I am 100% opposed to the flu shot and do not want toxic chemicals injected into me. Wearing masks for the entire flu season is not an option. It's either submit or be fired.

What can I do? I am losing sleep over this!

1. Ask them how they intend to verify that one has received the shot, considering HIPAA.

2. Tell them a lie, if need be. Tell them that you HAVE gotten it, on your own initiative.

3. Consider hiring a lawyer for employment law.

Sounds like a bad situation... I for one really oppose needles, and think it should be a personal choice.

They can't force you to take a flu shot and that's law. If they fire you over it, expect to go to court and settle big. I hate when people sue in general but this is a legitimate course of action in this case.

I dont think you can be forced to take the flu shot unless you are in certain occupations.

They are having flu shot clinics at my place of employment and I assume they will be writing down names and checking people's names off on a list. I work at a hospital. I am very upset and worried about this. Losing sleep over it. They claim that it is "mandatory." I assume what this means is you get fired if you don't take it. If you say you got it elsewhere you have to have a form with very detailed info on it, telling when, where, who gave it to you, etc.

What should I do? I am thinking about quitting over this.

Are you in the service industry, exposed to those who might either have the illness or be extremely vulnerable to it? Like STILL said, I think there are only a few job positions that routinely require vaccination (health care providers)...if yours isn't one of them and you feel strongly about it, I'd first try to reason with your employer - unless there is no evidence that this would benefit your situation. If that be the case, time to contact Legal Services.

What do you do for work?

Ah, you just answered...you work at a hospital.

Do they normally require flu shots, or is it only this year?

I am pretty sure that your employer cannot make the flu shot a mandatory issue for you. As a matter of fact I think he is treading on thin ice with this kind of a demand and you perhaps should go to your personnel department and complain. If he is threatening to have you lose your job then I am pretty sure the Labor Dept. would like to know what he is doing.

My next question is....why would you want to stay and work for someone who would make this kind of a demand on you? I would have a talk with him and explain your feelings about his request and if he doesn't bend then I would start looking for another job. I know work is scarce and am hoping he isn't using this fact as a strong arm tactic to have you get the shot....talk to him then if he insists with this line of strong arm tactics, start looking for work. No one has to be put under this kind of stress and I don't think he is within his boundaries as a boss to insist on this type of thing. Good Luck.

That is just not true. It is against the law to mandate a flu shot.
