We just received a check from my dermatologist for $20.
Why? We overpaid our balance.

Who would have thought a doctor would refund their patients money if the patients paid too much?!

Have you ever had a doctor do this?

Yes, I've had it happen many times.

People think doctors are dishonest, that insurance companies are evil, pharma companies are evil. In reality, they are people just like anyone else and 99% of them are honest, just like anyone else.

Of course. Most try to get it right at the time of service but it happens sometimes that insurance coverage is more than they expect and so they send a refund. Why wouldn't they?

Yes, I recently received $5 back from an oral surgeon because I overpaid. When I worked for a dentist, we sent out insurance and patient refunds every week.

Insurance companies are evil but we can debate that in the Politics & Controversies board.
