I've been charged with organizing a women's health panel discussion for a local women's group. Trouble is I'm not exactly clear on what a panel discussion is. Is it as simple as each health participant discusses their topic and we have questions and answers - or is there more to it? Should each health participant speak about the same or similar topic as the others? I have the list of health participants - just not clear on how this should work! Any help appreciated

My list of participants so far is:

Ob-gyn/physician
Nutrition/Exercise expert
Holistic/massage therapist

Any other health categories I should cover?

You might want to add a mental health therapist and an esthetician. I would think your panel would field questions put forth by the participants attending the event.

may i suggest that in the future, instead of a MD, ask a women's health nurse practitioner or certified nurse midwife. That said, it depends on what the overall theme of the day is - nutrition, healthy lifestyles, cancer, etc. Sounds like you have a good gruop and amazon has a good suggestion. Usually, each person gives a short talk about their field of expertise then the group answers questions

Thanks everyone! There is no overall theme other than women's health in general. Need to cover all ages - good suggestions on other participants. And I guess I would just need a moderator of some kind to manage the time of this panel discussion. Perhaps a post panel discussion reception might be appropriate too.
