Default Shoes wearing down unevenly and foot pain

I've been noticing that I've been wearing down my shoes quickly--after just a few months the soles are wearing down very unevenly--on the inside part it's wearing down and the outside part is fine. At the beginning of the summer I bought brand new sandals and at the end of the summer the inside part of the sole was worn down so much and the outside part looked brand new. Additionally I wore through the inside part of the shoes as well. I think what that means is that I'm putting more force on the inside of my feet than the outside. I've noticed that this is getting worse, and I've developed mild pain in my arches and heels as well. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I see a podiatrist, a chiropractor or an orthopedist about this? I'm thinking I need some specially-made arch supports to balance out the force I'm putting on my feet.

That's called pronation, I think. I think a podiatrist could help you. Also, there are Dr. Scholls stands with a measuring thing you stand on and then it recommends which one of their supports you need.

You should probably see a podiatrist and get fitted for orthotics. While I have never worn them, people who do think they really help.

This has some clear and simple explanations so that you can understand what is happening with your feet / structure.
What is Pronation and Supination?
And yeah, do address it.
It can cause all sorts of structural problems.
Happy feet are important.

You should do something about it. I had similar pronation and pain, and I ignored it for too long. Now I've got a fallen arch in one of my feet and have to wear orthotics or shoes with orthopedic footbeds all of the time.

Most people say that you need custom-made orthotics. I'm getting by with WalkFit orthotics ($20) for now and I've heard other people say that these work as good as or better than custom orthotics.

you should definitely see a podiatrist. also, you may want to see a chiropractor. I bet you are totally out of alignment.
