Growing pains?
My 10 year old son has been having some problems for months now. He is tall for his age, around 5'3" Me and his mother are very tall. (6'5" and 5'11") The problems he has been having are as follows:
-Legs and arms hurt
-Joints ache and hurt
-Back hurts
-Back of neck just started to hurt
-Says his joints pop a lot
-Tired and lethargic
-Moves around slowly and cannot perform in PE at school
Took him to the Dr and they did an exama and drew blood and all was fine.
Not sure what to think or do. I've been giving him Acetomenophen every day for the pain, but he says it isn't helping.
Going to make another Appt with his Dr, but does anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?

Yep. Had that problem with my kids when they are that age. Don't worry about it.
It may not be commonly known, but kids don't grow gradually. They grow in spurts and the tendons and muscles don't keep up with the bone growth. For instance, my son grew a couple of inches OVER NIGHT! Not surprisingly, he was more than a little sore for a few days.
If your child is in actual pain, keep doing what you're doing. If he's just uncomfortable, ignore it. He'll be fine in a few weeks. (No, I'm not a Doctor, but I AM a parent.)

I went through it myself as a child. One of my sons had a terrible time with it. He is older now and 6'5".
What helped us the most was rubbing the arms, legs, feet and adding hot packs or warm baths.

Uhh...Don't keep giving him pills. You are not suppose to take those everyday like that. Its just growing pains, he can deal with it.

I had growing pains near that same age -- 4th grade (so, about 9?). I still remember how awful it was. Mine were in my groin, where my thigh bones connected with my pelvis. It hurt to lift my legs to take a step, so I shuffled around, sliding my feet along the ground. Drove my parents crazy. Stairs were a nightmare, and one morning I woke up and accidently stepped on my teddy bear, which was lying on the floor, and started screaming like someone had just stabbed me. I don't recall my parents doing anything for me for the growing pains, and within a couple weeks the pain passed. (I never grew tall, though, like all these other people. I'm jealous! I topped out at 5'4".)

I would not be giving him this daily and he says it isn't helping so why risk liver damage.

You're not alone ! My son just turned 11, but most of the symptoms you mentioned started when he was about 9 1/2. Especially pain in the arms, legs, and popping joints. He is very tall for his age also, at 5'5". In the past he has taken epsom salt soaks and that seemed to help tremendously. I think it's starting to slow down now though, he doesn't seem to complain as much. I recall having the same issues as a kid...the pain was so bad it would make me cry. I used to beg my mom to rub my arms and legs at bedtime. Poor guy ! I hope you find something that works for him. I second not giving him the pain reliever daily...it can damage the liver in a young person.

It also robs the body of nutrients...which you kinda need those for growing.

That can affect your energy level.

My son complains of knee pain a lot because of his growth. He is 8 and 5'3". In the evening I have him lay like he is in a hospital bed after he takes a bath. It losens him up while taking the pressure off his knees. I hope he stops growing like this, it's painful for him and my wallet!
My uncle grew 6 inches one summer, he was in pain like your son, and he couldn't ride in a car because he would puke. So he walked to school even though his 6 siblings drove, and even that was because of the pain, but he had to go to school. I wasn't even alive but I feel so bad for him because there was nothing they could do for him.
