Hi everyone, I'm new here. I heard about the site from a friend. Actually this is my first post. I recently returned to work after having surgery on both hands. I'm just curious if anyone else out there has had it done and how was it returning to work after. I work in a factory that has alot of manual labor and I had my dominate hand done in Jan. and the left hand done in March. I was released from my restrictions about two weeks ago. My wrists are still very weak and when I tried to do the job I was doing before I had the surgery, I couldn't do it. I heard things snapping in my wrist and it was very painful. I got them to move me to a different area for now but I'd like to know exactly what my rights are as far as workers comp. Can they make me do that job or can I refuse to go back to that job? There are plenty jobs there that are more light duty and I've been there for 14 years so you would think I'd have some say in what I can do. If anyone has anything to share with me I'd really appreciate it. This is the first work related injury I've had, so I don't know what my rights are. Please help. Thanks.
I would talk to some one in the Union, if your place of work has one. They would be able to tell you what your rights are. If you reinjure your wrist and the doctor had released you, and something got messed up again, he could be held responsible for releasing you back to full duty to soon. Just some ideas, may be some others will have more.

Ask your doctor to put you on restrictions. May be weight restriction or something more detailed like not turning wrist more than X amount of times in an hour. If your docotr writes the restricitions they should abide by it and workmens comp will honor his note.
