I've been getting that sensation recently....and although it's nothing new. i've had that sensation in the past (very infrequently).
obviously you can't scratch it....surface scratch won't make the itch go away as it feels like the itch is coming from the inside/bone/etc.
lol
the only thing that gives the satisfaction feeling that usually comes from scratching is hitting the legg with your fist mildly.....then the itch goes away. comes back in a few hours for a few seconds....etc.etc.
what the hell is this?

I felt like that when my shin splints ( small fracture) were healing.

I have always had this problem and just assumed it was RLS or something... but it drives me INSANE. I have to dig my knuckles into my leg to relieve this insane inside itch. I wish I knew wtf it is.. good to know I'm not the only one with this strange inside leg itch.

I know what you mean
it feels very itchy but then when you scratch it you suddenly lose the itch, and then it comes back after you stop scratching

Mine are above my ankles and get warm and red and itchy. Mine is from Perimenopause and hormonal changes. It comes and goes.
Another symptom of hormonal change I have that also come and goes is just what you describe, I think the common term is skin bugs, but there are no real bugs after all.

Yes. And sometimes when I scratch one location I can feel it in another. It's odd but the nerves are a complicated thing.

A small blood vessel that "breaks" can feel like that....like a broken varicose vein deep inside.

It might not have to do anything with the nerves, if you exercise, you are basically stretching and ripping your muscles, and with intense or new movements, your body will try to heal the muscle in a very active way, kind of like when you cut yourself, when it is healing, it gets itchy, the same happens but deep inside, in your muscle.
Hope this helps

Yes , I have , in my thigh. Makes me want to take a cutting laser to it , LOL. Another unusual 'itch' I've had is below my ribcage , to the right of the heart. It is a deep , infernal itch. Aside from that , it hasn't precluded other problems as of present.
