I've read some articles over the last several years about how people using all these antibacterial soaps, gels, toothpaste and mouthwash which is killing the bad bacteria is also killing off the good strains of bacteria found on our skin, digestive tract and mouth which could be causing us more harm than good.

I totally agree. We have switched to organic soaps, toothpaste, etc. Also, I make sure that none of the products I use contain petroleum products. So many cancerous tumors contain parrafin/petroleum. Anti bacterial has its' place but as with anything, consumers should utilize their power to be informed and make choices.

I was looking at the ingredients for Colgate Total toothpaste as it has Triclosan in it as an anibacterial as i wonder if we'll develope resistance to it and other antibacterials in the future with so many products having all this in it .

Anyway outside of alcohol or peroxide for scrapes and minor cuts i'll let my immune system protect me like it's always done .

Unfortunately with the rampant fear marketing that is out there - it is getting harder and harder to find a NON antibacterial liquid hand soap.

We are not interested in the antibacterial products for routine washing/cleansing and I am constantly annoyed at how difficult it is to find the "normal" (pre-antibacterial) versions of products.

Wow ... an anti-bacterial in toothpaste?!!!
Another reason to avoid the typical brands you find in the drug store and supermarket.
If gum disease involves a bacterial issue and anti-bacteria products lower the bodies natural resistance to various bacterias, it seems like it would be wise to avoid these products.
