I was at the docs today and was diagnosed with some new bacterial strain sinus infection and was given antibiotics and some sort of purple cough syrup. I had a question regarding the syrup..as I took my dosage and I feel a bit *loopy* after it. Can this stuff be taken while working? I work behind a computer and don't operate any heavy machinery. She said it is for the cough I have. The bottle says its 10mg codeine and 6.25 promethazine.

codeine will make you "loopy" be careful operating machinery while you are taking it; your prescription pamphlet should state this.

Yup, wouldn't be working while on that medicine. That happened to me one time, I was counting money after taking the medicine. Suddenly I couldn't add. I had to call DH to come and pick me up from work!

Keep taking the antibiotics as recommended but save the cough medicine for bedtime.

I've taken cough syrup with codeine before and it gave me nightmares. Never again!

Just be careful with that stuff. Hope it does do to you what it did to me.
