Oh boy, you're so right eggalegga! Guess I'd better start paying better attention to the dates of the posts. Thanks for the head's up!

Hope your doing well today FranPam!

Actually, I had mine out with intravenous valium. You still go through and are aware of what's happening at the time, but the valium makes you forget it all so quickly .. so if you can't remember after, then it's pain-free .. right?

I just remember my dentist with the pliers in his hand, thinking he was just going to start, when he showed me he had the last tooth in the pliers and it was all over with.

One thing about the intravenous valium though, you can end up talking about all sorts of things you normally wouldn't be talking about. It can be very embarrassing. We had many patients telling us all sorts of funny stuff, and seeing as how it was the guy I worked for pulling my teeth when the time came, I was a bit dubious about the valium thing. But opted for that over being put to sleep. Hope I didn't reveal all my secrets!

A second opinion wouldn't hurt either, some dentists love to create issues that don't really exist to make more money. Sad but true.

This isn't to say your dentist is doing that, they might be 100% accurate in his or her assessment, just saying that you have nothing to lose with a second opinion to make sure your not being talked into doing something that isn't necessary.

Best of luck to you.

This post is making me very nervous. I am getting all four taken out next week. They're going to run an IV on me and I will have my prescriptions filled sometime this weekend. Based on what I've read here and from what I've been told in person, it'll either be a very quick recovery or a very timely one. I am going to stock up on yogurt...on a lighter note, this may be what I needed as I've needed to lose weight for a while anyway, hahahahaha...I'm going to see if the S.O. would buy my favorite meal for me from my favorite restaurant since I won't be eating much this time next week!
