A close friend of mine was on the pill for 10 years straight, stopped taking it, and was pregnant the very next month. She's due in 2 months. I'm so dang excited!

It took my sister in law less than a month to get pregnant after she got off the pill.

It took me over a year and a half... I did not ovulate regularly for over a year after coming off of the Pill.

It was five years from the time I stopped taking the pill until I conceived with the help of fertility drugs. The contraceptives hid the cause of my infertility.

I am on month 2 of trying after stopping my BCPs in December. My cycles immediately returned to 28 days on the dot. But each person is different. If you're over 35, your chances of conceiving each month are right around 20%. You'll need to give it 6 months+ before talking to your OB/Gyn about it. Expect to take as long as a year to conceive. After a year, you may need to investigate fertility treatments.

I also recommend getting the book Amazon.com: Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health (9780060881900): Toni Weschler: Books when you go off of the Pill. Chart your cycles and your basal temperatures to find out when ovulation is resuming. If it does not resume after several months, you don't have to wait 6 months or a year to see the doctor about it... they may be able to help you sooner.

Good luck!
