As you know, I have seen the school nurse, who told me to see a doctor if it didn't get better. Thankfully (I'm going to jinx it with this I'm afraid!) the pain is somewhat fading (I'm down to one painkiller a day), and hopefully it will continue doing so. Otherwise, I promise to go to the doctor...

Thank you all!
M'am, if you are taking "painkillers", you need to see a healthcare provider!

I take painkillers without seeing a doctor. I'm sure she meant over the counter one's, not the tylenol/codeine ones i have that work very well.

I don't think she means OTC APAP or NSAIDS, but point taken
Regardless - a sore throat for this long needs follow-up - can be lotsa stuff....

It migth be, but I've had this once before, and that was this winter. And I promise: NOTHING blooms then... Perhaps, I am pollen allergic, but most of my problems are usually in late August...

Never happens!

No, I'm using over the counter painkillers, so they're not that strong. I was hopeing for it all to be over and forgotten soon, but after your warnings...Ok. I promise: if it isn't over within next Wednesday (I'm going to Stockholm to visit my father on Thursday or Friday) I promise to go see a doctor...
Thanks y'all!

Does anyone know or have a hum of what it might be?
All answers are welcomed!
Have you had any fever?
You need to be careful of strep throat..... If not taken care of, could damage your kidneys, heart, could cause rheumatoid arthritis. Strep is very contagious also.

Just wanted to share with you what has worked absolutely the very best for me with a sore throat and swollen glands. I read somewhere about a home remedy - 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup vinegar (I found some really good Apple Vineger) and you mix the 2 and take 1 tablespoon every 4 hours until gone. The combination kills all the bacteria and germs. It works for me every time.

Anything is better than taking antibiotics because they eventually don't work either.

Let me throw another curve: I had a sore throat, choking feel, trouble swallowing, sore neck muscles, intermittment hoarseness for about 6 weeks. Finally went to ENT who popped a little scope up my nose & down my throat, said my vocal chords were bleeding but didn't see any cancer (Thank God!). He said it was "laryngopharyngeal reflux," or LPR. It's like the acid reflux that causes heartburn, except in this case, it refluxes ALL the way up to your voicebox, & most folks don't even GET heartburn! Sadly, I had to give up many of my favorite things: cigarettes (I know, I know!), coffee, diet Pepsi & ... SOB... wine. After one week of medication & deprivation, it's quite a bit better -- I can even sleep on my back again without choking.
(Incidentally, this thing can refer pain to your ears, too)
Feel better!!!

Talking It's gone! Thank you all!

Ok, *croosing my fingers* it's gone! I tried that honey/vinegar cure, and it helped! Thanks for the tip, Balderdash! (It might have been the fact I hate both honey and vinegar...)

Thank you everyone, and please hope this will not ever return! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You are really the best! Thanks!
