I'm under the assumption that the OP is of eastern Indian descent. (Please correct me, Antlered Chamataka, if I am wrong. )

Funny, I've got the OP pegged as a member of the UK judging by the use of certain words.

Now I'm so curious.

I pass for a Brit, mostly, unless people physically see me. We were schooled in Brit English from age 3 anyway.

Besides, this is only a vent thread. I still love this country, especially the money and the women

It's just that I wish I had a flying saucer which can teleport me to India every time I fell sick. I'll be attended by mom and sixteen aunts from my family, and nursed back to health in days. I even got chicken pox and was nursed back to health in a week, without a single tablet or capsule. They made me a neem leaves bed to sleep on and tons of herbs and ayurvedic foods. And chicken pox is pretty nasty. Even if I had to find a doc, no abracadabra about 7 options, hitting 1 if I need to habla espagnola, call transfers and all kinds of drama when the throat is pretty sore and it's hard to speak. I mean, why do they have to say this even, that too very slowly like a symphony that it takes 15 seconds in itself - "Please listen carefully for our options have changed" LMAO

I found a doc. He was generous to see me today itself and I got my meds. The pharmacy took an hour to issue it He told me I'd be getting a fat bill since I went out of my network. I just will have to deal with it.

Honestly, this is why I wanted to find an ENT specialist asap.

Throat pain while exercising? - Yahoo! Answers

I was a little concerned I may have jammed my vocal cords, I pushed it a little harder in the gym, thursday night or something and it all started to get worse at that point. I was already feeling the sickness from thursday morning. My neck still hurts, the doctor said the vocal cords are fine. It's just a throat infection, he thinks.

You are better off staying home and taking care of yourself. Doctor is useless in your situation.

First of all, coffee and milk in your condition?? The word "clueless" comes to mind. Dairy just will give you more mucus, coffee dehydrates you when you are supposed to be drinking lots and lots of water now!!!! You need to flush it out!!!
For this situation, you need to have echinacea and zinc at home, herbal teas, and lots and lots of clean filtered water. You need lots of rest and sleep. If you are completely miserable with the fever, take tylenol, but the best way is to let the fever run its course.

You don't need a doctor. You need education of how to take care of yourself while sick.
Not just milk. I mix milk with turmeric and black pepper. It smokes mucus for 1 hour and then when the grip starts to come off, it re-accumulates. Repeating that would be an option in the day, when I'm not asleep.

This may be YOUR experience in India, but I highly doubt it's everybody else's...

But I am scared to raise my family here, already.
And you should be! At least you make good money and have insurance (I assume). There's a lot worse than that.

I was in a hospital for 5 days last year. It billed 19K! Insurance paid about 7K, I believe, and I paid about 2K. Some expensive hotel, I tell ya... However, I think if one doesn't have insurance, the hospital probably will try to stick him with the original/wishful-thinking amount.
