I am starting to believe as a culture, we use hand sanitizer, Germ X, etc. Waaaaay too much. What ever happened to soap and water? After awhile all this sanitizing will make the germs stronger or resistant to it. People have lived on the this earth for centuries before hand sanitizers, i think we still can. I understand if you want to squirt some onto your hands after your done shopping and are about to eat, what I'm talking about are the people that go over board, and disinfect their houses every month.
This is a pretty good article and the comments are insightful.
Also hot water vs cold which is more effective with hand washing; it's either one.
Most everything I've read supports that effective hand washing with soap is just as good as using the sanitizers.
Think about all the things we now put anti-bacterial something in.
Our bodies do need a certain amount of dirt so we can establish responses to guard against it. Our immune systems need to build up logical defenses against the bugs.
I agree 100%. Soap is just a degreaser, what kills germs is the friction/heat of washing, so I've read.
But, easy for me to say, I farm and clean hands only happen at night.
I think people are so afraid of getting sick or dying that they don't live. SIL and her family are like that, they spend more time at the dr in a month than we do all yr, no boubt.
How did we(us as a nation) get this way? The media who likes to prey on peoples fears?
