Actually it was John Lennon who wrote and sang that song, with Yoko screeching in the background.
It was neither. Those lyrics were from a National Lampoon record satirizing McCartney, who did indeed compose, along with his wife Linda, the song "Give Ireland Back To the Irish." It was written in 1972, after the Beatles had split, so Lennon had nothing to do with it. It was released as a single by Paul McCartney and Wings.

The lyrics are also in the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" By John Lennon and The Plastic Ono Band. (not to be confused with the U2 song "Bloody Sunday")
I just listened to it on Youtube, awful.

No they are not. The Lennon lyrics include:
Quote:
Keep ireland for the irish
Put the english back to sea!
That isn't the McCartney song, it isn't the National Lampoon satire of the McCartney song, it is a completely different song which expresses the same idea in two of its lines, which the McCartney song does for the entire song.
But it's inevitable. When recent Mexican immigrants and their offspring make up half the population of the Southwestern states I guarantee you they are going to find some way to force a referendum.
What they can't do with bombs and bullets, they are doing with their babies. They can't beat us on the battlefield so they will outbreed us and beat us at the ballot box. Every Mexican student is taught from day 1 of their education that the Southwestern states are Mexican soil occupied by the United States, and that they have a duty to liberate "their land".
Yeah, you should talk to some 2nd and even a lot of the 1st generation mexicans here in the US about how they would vote. They aren't exactly in a hurry to go back to where they worked so hard to leave.
Why USA is obliged to return Alaska and Aleutskie island to Russia?
1. The Alaskan agreement is not paid.
2. USA have polluted Alaska military rubbish, this harms to nature.
Is it Respectfully yours Blushed Shaper.
To begin with, that the Sale of Alaska it was a machination of the century, for the sale of Alaska to the Russian Treasury has received no money at all.
But nevertheless, I do not think that America should return it. It is now America is not Russia. Russia today it is not needed.(its good enough)
And whence is this nonsense come from?
General Billy Mitchell said in the 1930s that Alaska was "The most important strategic place in the world." It would seem very unlikely there would ever be a serious thought about giving it up.
This seems a good place to ask: Why did the Japanese invade the Aleutian Islands in WWII? The ferocity of the battles on the islands of Attu and Kiska certainly looked like they had long-term intentions of staying. The battle for the Aleutians was never given the kind of press coverage as the South Pacific, but was no less important.
Military historian Ronald H. Spector, in Eagle Against the Sun (p. 167), answers your question as to why the Japanese invaded Attu and Kiska as follows: "The strike against the Aleutians was intended to neutralize any American air power there and provide a diversion from the main event, the assault on Midway."
The weather was so bad on and near those two bare and unpopulated islands, with so much fog, that military planes using the navigation capabilities of the day could often not find them to carry out air raids. There was indeed a fiece battle for Attu (when did Japanese defenders not fight fiercely?) but ten weeks later when 35,000 U.S. troops embarked for the invasion of Kiska, they discovered that the Japanese had already gone! Hardly any fierce battle for that island!

There wasn't any fierce battle on Kiska, as the Japanese army had evacuated prior to the US landing.
My Dad, who had been stationed at Fort Richardson near Anchorage since 1940, fought at the Battle of Attu and was with the Kiska invasion force. He had the great pleasure of living in a tent for 7 months in the snowfields of the Aleutians.....without a bath.
Edited to add: I posted this reply before seeing Escort's above.

The reason behind the sale of Russian America was to transfer it to a friend (America) rather than risk losing it to a foe, or to spend fortunes creating a full-fledged colony there, many months away from populated Russia. Oil wasn't discovered yet

It wouldn't really hurt Russia ... but yes, it's not ours - and that's a very simple fact. Strange that some people deny this.
