That's obvious. It's the "bash Whitey" century.

If they were the best at it, I think they would have done more to destroy they cultures they came upon rather than simply lift the instruments to the wealth in the countries they invaded.

Even Christian missionaries were barely able to make a dent in India and China, and didn't do much in Africa either compared to the culturcide (I know that is not a real word) the Arab invaders managed there.

Then please explain to us how there are so many states in Africa where the overwhelming majority of citizens identify themselves as Christians? Is it a coincidence that children born in the most remote regions of Africa often share the same biblical names as a children born in Western Europe or am I missing something here? Is it a mere coincidence that the concept of a secular state has been dismissed across much of Africa because her citizens are so loyal to their faiths? For better or for worse, Christian missionaries definitely played a large role in shaping contemporary Africa's culture.

It's interesting as well that Anglophone Africa has many Victorian characteristics today - patriarchy, religious fervor, zeal for self-improvement, prudery, and lack of compassion towards criminals, lawbreakers, or other deviants. The colonizers left their mark there to the extent that attitudes that have long since weakened or died in the anglosphere nations live on in Africa.

Not all of Africa's religion came from Europeans. There are some tribes which are Jewish and have genetic traits of Jewish Rabbi. According to the bible, Jesus and his family spent many years in Africa. The Muslims are much better at what Europeans are being accused of.

Yet traditional African religions have declined, and continue to decline, with both Islam and Christianity becoming stronger.

In adding to the list of Victorian influences on Anglophone Africa, I forgot to mention the ubiquity of Anglican and Presbyterian churches in small towns.

Why did Victorian culture leave more of a lasting imprint upon the former British colonies than French culture of the same period did upon the former French colonies?

All three got their starts in the desert. Must be something about the intensity of the heat which ignites the imagination.

....David Alleyne....snipped...-If you think that European/American Chattel slavery was the same as African slavery then I should just stop right now. That would be a lack of effort on your part.
I am not sure what you mean by this statement. Could you elaborate ? Thank you.
