Is this like the most informative poster contest? Will there be prizes for the winners? Will the results later be used for endorsement purposes...like, "The Civil War...Voted Most Interesting War by the City Data History Forum Posters"

WW2

It doesn't get any bigger, horrific, bravery, hardship, technological advancement and all around drama than that... untill WW3 happens anyway.

WW2 because it's just not a fair comparison.

It's SO HUGE and encompasses so many different areas.

It's like Baskin Robbins vs. a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in relation to some of the other altercations.

P.S. Just watched a GREAT documentary on the problems the US had with the Mark 14 torpedo and the d-bag admiral that oversaw it's design and then quashed complaints about it until the evidence was utterly overwhelming. (One japanese tanker was hit 15 or so times with only 1 detonation)

I go for the Napoleonic Wars going back to their beginnings in the French Revolution, major shift in the way people thought about themselves, their nation, the way we fight wars, etc. It is also the one past conflict that set the stage for eveything that happened right up to the beginning of WW2; which would be the second on my list, because that marks the next great shift.

I get into phases of interest where I just devour books on the subject. Right now I am still on my Napoleonic War phase. A few years ago it might have been the American Civil War or WW2 but I am over that although I might still pick up books about the subject. I had a short spell of interest in the Mexican American war. It might be the Boer War or something next. Usually it's about whatever war I know the least about.

Definetly WWII for me. It truely amazes me about how much the US mobilized to build more then most thought possible and still mobilize over 16 million under arms. Not to mention what many other countries fighting for their lives did. Ron

WWII, of course!

I even spent an entire semester in college studying in a special honors WWII history program that culminated in a trip to Normandy. When I found out that my college had this program, I nearly fell over in amazement and excitement. Applied, was super stoked to get in, and had an amazing 5 months!

You also left out the Yugoslav Wars (1991-1995). And the Russian Revolution.

For the list provided, the French Revolution is fascinating.

Edit: Oh, that's the American Revolutionary War (a good choice though). The French Revolution should be on the poll too.
