99,0 percent of the population of Cordova during the Xth Century, some presume that the city had more than 1 million or 2 million inhabitants (I find such a figure exhorbitant) were Mozarabes (Christians that had to pay a tax, Muladies (Christians converted to Muslims to avoid paying the tex) and Jews that also had to pay the tax.
One percent of the population were Arabs (very few but very powerful) and berbers. Arabs and Berbers were always engaged in Civil Wars because according to Arabs, Berbers were barbarians, they received bad lands, etc.
Muladies (Christians converted to Muslims) also were engaged in fights and stablished in some cases strange kingdoms. They were not treated very well.
And then yu had mercenaries, mostly were Christian fom the North, Normands, Catalans, Basques, Franks...they well very well treated since they protected Arabs against Berbers and Berbers against Arabs.
Then were also the "hostages" and prisoners, for example, Vikings and any other plunderers were "contracted" as soon as they landed, hostages from the north were also important and they became servants or mercenaries since their Christian family up noth were poor as rats, no money to pat ransom. There was no coinage in christian territory.
