A couple months ago I found out that President Tyler was a distant relative of mine. First I was excited and jokingly told friends that with my new found pedigree, I was going to find a sperm-bank to sell my goods to the highest bidder. After a little research about Tyler, I quickly realized I may have to pay them to take it.

For me it would be George W. Bush, the crook who screwed up this country.
The Bushes were bad, but Ronald Reagan started all this mess. So I give it to Reagan.

GWB and Obama won their second terms with nearly the same precentage of votes. I would consider them both about the same as far as leadership abilities. Neither were/are popular.

As far as the presidents of the last 50 years... That is its own special chapter of history.

Cleveland sexually assaulted her "[b]y use of force and violence and without my consent," Halpin reported, adding that when she threatened to notify the authorities, Cleveland "told me he was determined to ruin me if it cost him $10,000, if he was hanged by the neck for it. I then and there told him that I never wanted to see him again [and] commanded him to leave my room, which he did."

Hardly anyone knew about Cleveland's scandal. But we're still wrapped up in Clinton's scandal.

Au contraire. The Blaine campaign mocked Cleveland for his illegitimate child during the entire 1884 campaign a lot.

That Cleveland had fathered an illegitimate child was the scandal exploited by the Democrats in 1884. That Cleveland had raped her and later had her illegally detained in a mental institution to discredit her...that is the new part being presented here.

One Cheney biographer said that Cheney became a "law unto himself" in the Bush adminstration. IMO, when the records are opened and future histories are written, it will be revealed that Cheney, by design, kept the American public unaware of Bush's unpreparedness for the presidency. The George W. Bush presidency was probably the most opaque in US history, and the American people's civil liberties were never violated more. Unfortunately, some of that has been carried over in the present administration.

For all the "Bush!" "No, Obama!" "You're both wrong, Carter!" "Wait, it was Reagan!" claims, as if recorded history only began a few decades ago, it is usually best to let Presidential legacies age for awhile. As in, half a century, at least.

This allows us to properly assess them in historical context. It also allows for much more information to come out about them, as insiders age and retire and speak more openly with the passing of time, when their discussions and revelations become less and less relevant to contemporary politics.
