It's kind of interesting, I'm 22, almost 23 years old. I was born in 1990 and it actually seems like the people who miss the 90's the most are around my age, and were just kids during that decade. I'd say 90's nostalgia is mostly a mid 80's to early 90's born thing, which is kinda weird because it seems like everyone from about 29 to 59 years old (born from 1953-1983) is nostalgic for the 80's, there's a much wider appeal for 80's nostalgia for some reason.
Is there love for the 90's from the 70's born later Gen Xers? People from their mid 30s to early 40s? I mean if you were born in 1975, the 90s would have been ages 15-25 to you, I would think after 20 years most people would start to feel nostalgia for that time, no? I was talking to an acquaintance who is 15 years older than me, born in 1975 and he was telling me he felt 'too old' for the 90's which is kind of weird considering he was still just a kid in the early 90's. But then again I never liked the 2000's very much and felt kind of 'old' after about 2003 or so. So maybe some of us just grow old faster.
Out of all the decades 70's-2015's, I liked the 80's the best. The US was on top of the world and much more unified than today. It was a great decade from music to movies to overall quality of life.
I see a lot of late 70s-born people claiming themselves as 90s kids, which is strange to me...
Anyways, I'm curious to those that were actually born in 1970, do they consider themselves 70s kids, or 80s kids? Same with 1980 borns, 80s or 90s kids
I was born in 1979. I consider myself an 80's baby/child and 90's teen.
80s were goofy, often tacky, funny, and cool. A lot of different styles, trends, things we haven't seen before (and hopefully won't see again, once is enough ) The movies for the most part were terrible - I think it was the low point of American cinematography - but, again, catchy and funny, in a trashy way
The 90s, to me, had more taste, less style, and overall a bit more boring.
Well, I was a kid in the 70s, the bell-bottoms, long hair and the beards were all gone by the time I started shaving. I still think the 70s were kind of cool, in a way. That's when the rock music was at it's finest, IMHO. It was in the 80s that they started writing the music for people with a short attention span - Pink Floyd would never make it on MTV. Clip time is too short.
I miss ALL of my youth lol
The 80's were awesome...had some rough spells (typical kid stuff)
the 90's will always be my favorite...I was an adult, working in a good economy, upwardly mobile with lots of disposable income...from 95 until the very end, the 90's were a great time for me...except for 92-93...those were rough
I have been listening to a LOT of 90's alternative lately...bring back huge memories
I missed the 70s completely, but the 80s had too much conservatism for my tastes. The whole nuclear war threat thing was pretty awful, and then on top of that you had things like hair metal that aggressively glorified stupidity. Reagan was a monster.
I had a lot of anxieties about nuclear war and catching HIV as a kid.
I'm not saying the 90s were a complete turnaround, but at least the nuclear thing didn't seem as scary and grunge didn't openly disrespect women or intelligence.
