I would think that the founding fathers might very well be surprised with the amount of technology in our and other countries. They would probably still want to sit on a river bank and chew on a piece of grass and talk about how polluted the rivers are and at the same time be appalled at the hatred among people in politics and the political correctness of today.

Life was simple back then compared to current day life. When they saw the turmoils in almost every phase of life, they might wonder what are these people doing! Also they might think why didn't these people follow our original guidance which brought our country to the Republic which was on course when we left.

I would imagine their optimistic view of righting the wrongs which have muddled the progress of this Republic might be scattered with pessimism.

Have we gone too far to correct it to the way the founding fathers would have wanted us to proceed? Just a thought.

If the founding fathers of the US suddenly were brought back to life, they would be overwhelmed with the technological changes including running water, indoor toilets, microwaves, and our communication and transportation technology. I guess they would be most impressed by our ability to fly 35,000 feet in the air from one city to another. They would then be very surprised to see all of the world's races intertwined together in our society.

More than a year would need to pass before they could be adapted enough to form opinions about our current political system. It would be like if one of us woke up 1,000 years from now and were asked if we think that robots should have the right to permanently turn themselves off after being sent to planets outside of our solar system.

That presupposes that the legislative and executive branches (which appoint the "independent" judiciary) are dominated by people whose first interest is the goals set out in the Preamble. But if instead they have self-serving goals or are beholden to special interests, those checks and balances do not come into play.

What happens if (in a hypothetical example) a Muslim born in Keny of an inferior race finagles his way to the presidency, and radical communists and anchor babies seize control of both houses of the legislature? What are the checks and balances?

Those checks and balances were already in place, but the founders, as an afterthought, still wrote the Ten Amendments as a safeguard against misconstruction and abuse. Because checks and balances, as an ideal, might not carry the same weight in reality.

I think they would be more than pleased by the economy but appalled by the political corruption they hoped to avoid.

The founding fathers would probably be amazed at the little struggling country they founded with loans from france had become such a world super power. They would be saddened to see the demise of this great country as a result of the pass the buck practise of most of its elected officials.
I think the founding fathers would be greatly surprised at how far the black man has risen and influenced society both in good and bad ways considering most of the fathers owned slaves.

Default They'd only be lookin' fur a güd place to snip away some of the residue of the past couple-hun'rd years!!

Personally, I think they'd be thoroughly intrigued with Halo World at Warcraft!

But then after intermission and a few good cold Bud Lights (Yum! Tasty but not that filling!), they'd be appalled at the intentions of the still-un-silenced Christian majority whose relentless ideals remain to develop and sustain their beloved Christianity above all else.

Why else insist that Christianity is in fact the still-desirable and default spiritual backdrop, with it's own set of very simulated and adjustable goal posts? Why insist on an unsupportable Christian fog-like background arguments? With, of course, the equal expression of all, or no, religions. That's a fact, but let's uniformly ignore it, yes?

Nope: on this key Federal organizational and theocratic backdrop for example, We The People have indeed failed in our mandate. That alone is the reason I stay to fight the now officially stale yet critically important good fight!

But also remember now, laddies:Not everything in this country is woven into the inevitable outcome of that damned fight! Some of us have decided to obviously focus our energies on a maturing entity. Let's try to actually do that without the duly-rigged Christian end-game, that monotonously "divine" inventive concept that will lag so very far beyond!

So, on that note, have yourselves a v. happy night, blessed to be without the pressing noise in the background, the claim that it's all just their God working on His Big Ending. Too bad He missed World at Warcraft though, huh? From the minds of men, I'll note! And it also provides a very well-crafted perspective if the citizenry runs amok! (Based on this sort of planning, it most certainly will collaps... <cue the collective Yawn!!>)

I think they would be surprised that we managed to populate the entire continent in such a relatively short time. I also think the would be surprised that the US despite its size is still a Republic.

I think they'd be astonished that their words had such staying power.

About 4 million young men and women graduate from college each year in America and have for about 40 years. There are close to 50 million college graduates in the U.S. We should be careful about putting down the educational system unless we want to buy into what the right wing talk show hosts are dishing out.
