He quarrelled with important barons, notably the powerful Earl of Warwick who played a crucial role in bringing him down, and he was involved in the death of his nearest adult male relative, Humphrey of Gloucester, which gave his cousin Richard of York a claim to the succession. This led to the destruction of his dynasty, after tens of thousands of lives had been lost in civil war..
Henry's downfall transferred the crown to Edward IV, who made an unpopular marriage which produced two sons whose legitimacy would later be questioned, promoted a bunch of his new Queen's relatives, who soon made themselves more unpopular that Henry's favourites had ever been, and quarrelled with important barons, notably including the Earl of Warwick. Such was all that the massive loss of life had achieved.
The biggest irony in history is that Polish sovereignty was the reason England and France declared war on Nazi Germany in September 1939. By 1945, millions of innocent people had been killed, much of central Europe was in ruins, England was a bankrupt lap dog of a former colony, and Poland was under the control of the Soviet Union
Have not read all the responses but the "irony" wasn't that much of one at all.
Plenty of Nazi party members including high placed ones, members of the SS etc... all had Jewish wives and or mothers, grandmothers, etc.. which made these men technically Jewish. This was a well known secret and the men along with their wives and families were protected.
All over Europe and Britain there had long been intermarriage between Jews and Christians. Often and mainly for the same old good reason, money! A Jewish heiress or one with a large dowry could overcome many objections. Long as the children were baptized into a Christian faith that was enough for many, and also that the wife ceased practicing her religion at least in public.
Alfred de Rothschild had an illegitimate child with a great lady in English society. Their daughter Almina married George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon and became Lady Carnarvon, the 5th Countess of Carnarvon. Her fortune both personal and dowry (one of the most substantial in English history) saved Highclere Castle of recent Downton Abbey fame.

Yes, because for someone on the fence, dating someone part-Jewish would have definitely been the tipping point against Hitler.
