one of the most infections and potentially deadliest is the flu and it's varies strains. Flu outbreaks rarely come from Africa and tend to come from south east Asia, particularly bird flu, also the infamous Swine flu outbreak in 2009 came from Mexico.

To answer the OP's question, it does seem like a lot of diseases originate from Africa. As someone said earlier, chimps and other primates are closely related to humans, not to mention there are loads of insects that pass disease and flourish in Africa, and of course there are the Tropics.
The first outbreak of bubonic plague occurred in the eastern roman empire in 542 and was known as the Plague of Justinian. It is believed that the plague entered Constantinople from the rat invested grain ships coming from Egypt aka Africa. The plague then somehow made it's way to china where the second outbreak occurred and traveled back to Europe thanks to the silk roads and Mongol invasion of Europe. The third and last out break originated in China again in the 1850s and made it's way to India this time.
