He was also rumored to be fond of exposing himself during his college days. Reportedly, he would pull out his phallus and refer to the offending member as "Old Whopper."

I read this little poem as being attributed to LBJ:

All men worry about heart attacks,
All women worry about cancer of the tit,
Everyone worries about war and peace,
Everything else is chickensh!t,

Of course, the war protestors countered with:

Hey, Hey, LBJ
How many kids did you kill today?

Those were tough times, folks.

Unsurprising coming from a president who took briefings from his aids while seated on the toilet. LBJ was just a crude fellow, like Creed Bratton in "Office." Some people lack the filters the rest of us know to use.

He was that way right up to the end. When asked what he thought of Nixon's performance in office, Johnson said "I knew I'd be popular again. Nothing like stepping in cowbleep to make tripping on a stone seem enjoyable."

Remember the bumper sticker that said, "I went all the way with LBJ?" I'll not say what was pictured.

Remember the 1964 campaign? The one where Johnson said that if Goldwater were elected he'd get us into a land war in Asia?

Also, Goldwater's slogan "In your heart, you know he's right."

And the Demo response: "In your head, you know he's nuts."

And people think Trump and Hillary are ogres...

Senator Goldwater was among the forces which pushed LBJ to take a harder line on Vietnam. Charging the Democrats with being "soft on communism" had been an all purpose Republican tool from the the post war Red Baiters like Nixon and McCarthy, through the Ike years, the '60 election, and now '64.

Goldwater was talking tough, claiming that not enough was being done, and going so far as advocating the use of nuclear bombs in Vietnam. LBJ had a head full of dreams about being the greatest social president of all time, even outstripping FDR. His fear was that any backstep in Vietnam would be exploited by the Republicans and used sabotage his Great Society legislation. So, he had to appear tough, he had to stand up to the communists even though he recognized that South Vietnam was sham democracy with no popular support from the people.

As Cormier described it, Johnson “shucked off his underwear.” Then, as if nothing unusual were going on, the President continued talking to the reporters while “standing buck naked and waving his towel for emphasis.”
Well...I suppose you could be thankful that it was just his towel that he was waving for emphasis.
