Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed (Hungarian: Báthory Erzsébet, Slovak: Alžbeta Bátoriová ; 7 August 1560 – 21 August 1614)[2] was a Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer from the Báthory family of nobility in the Kingdom of Hungary. She has been labelled by Guinness World Records as the most prolific female murderer,[3] though the precise number of her victims is debated. Báthory and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of young women between 1585 and 1609.

I think feminists would try to say she was just a victim of the patriarchy. Feminists refuse to see women as perpetrators, only victims. But the fact is, women can be just as evil as men. That is an uncomfortable fact for many people, so they try to make all kinds of excuses for these women.
So interesting! I saw the name "Bathory", and I thought, "Hungarian?" The Turko-Mongol word "bator" (like the city name: Ulan Bator) means hero, or warrior-hero. According to many historians, including Hungarians themselves, the Huns originally were Turkic-speakers. So that's what her surname means.
