Let's not fall for the trolls. Historically speaking, you can build stable societies / countries that are egalitarian (Scandinavia) or very unequal (Latin America). Also within the US we had dramatically different periods or in-equality and equality and in both cases the country was stable. Let's stick to history and avoid moralizing and politicizing.
