During a routine mine removal operation they discovered the buried floor in the Hama area, a place of intense fighting. Archaeologists quickly began a very careful excavation which is providing information about a previously unknown Byzantine religious site.

Wow, that's amazing (interesting article as well). Thanks for posting it.

Beautiful and intricate work to create such a large piece. I wonder if there's more to it, a larger yet to be discovered length of it (to be excavated). I guess we'll see more about it as time goes on.
