Off the top of my head, I would suggest that one in Maine right next to Aroostook, I think it's Piscataquis. The one where Millinocket is. Cook and Lake, Minnesota, are NORTH of the MIssissippi. Would they count?

Totally accepted. Like I said, I spend time on the political threads and some of my defensiveness obviously carried over here. Sorry for overreacting, and in hindsight a very good question.
By the way, CM is now blocked at my work, so won't be able to participate here as much. Probably a good thing  |

They would count, but neither is the correct answer. Piscataquis and Aroostook are not correct either, but these are all very good guesses. |

Must be Hamilton NY. Used to be Cook, but Cook's population has grown too much. Good question. The mainland part of Monroe FL would win easily if that county got separated from the keys. There isn't even a road through it, except a disused part of old US-41 and the road to an Everglades campground and boat dock.

You are correct!! 3 people per square mile and hasn't grown measurably in 40 years. Almost as big as Delaware, with 5,300 people. |

Rhode Island and Hawaii. One of the counties in Hawaiii is a leper colony that can be reached only on a mule track down a mountainside, I think, which for some odd machinations in a wierd past, obtained something akin to county status, Kalawao County, Pop. 147, is administered by the state department of health, and has no county government exceot an appointed sheriff.
