To answer, it's in the Constitution that we need to be shooting someone. Hope that helps.

To quote George Friedman:

"You may not like war, but war likes you."

He said that while giving a geopolitical talk to a room full of Europeans (lots of Hungarians, with a smattering of other nationalities). His point to the bright young faces staring up at him was; during the past 1,000 years, there has NEVER been a century which did not see a major war in Europe. And those folks sitting in front of him were in living in la-la land.

Because its only 'Europeans' that go to war right!?

This thread is still active? OPs question was answered in post 4.
However I didn't find your link particularly insightful as political parties have changed so drastically through US history. "Republican" political party didn't even exist prior to civil war and Democratic party of today is not even comparable to what it was a century ago. And where are the Whigs?

After we got out of Vietnam in 1975 there were really no "wars" until Iraq in 1991. Yes we had Grenada, and other minor conflicts, but no wars. As a country, the U.S. was very wary of getting back into these types of wars. That quickly waned as we have had Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. now for many years. Time to get out, and secure our own border.
