While he was relentless against his enemies, once they were defeated Caesar always seemed willing to give them another chance, not a common characteristic among the ambitious men of the day. This humane streak got him killed. Well, that and attempting to absorb all of the political power for himself.

I wonder though if it was fear and not love as most leaders Worldwide didnt put up with people who didnt adore or as least do their bidding......our own Henry V111 executed between 57,000 to 72,000 people in his 37 year reign , to me thats evil and not a good ruler...I didnt even think there were enough people in England at that time though so maybe a great exaggeration.. I still think Henry and some other rulers had serious mental problems..

I don't know much about Caesar, but I've thought about Alexander the Great and other ancient kings: men who are admired for their military prowess and 'greatness,' if they were alive today doing the same things, would be considered mass murderers and war criminals.
