I'm a woman, and I wouldn't be happy if my husband was president. Why would you think all women would want that?? Women are people, and people are all different, you know.
And here lies the biblical answer why God is so weary of women.
He wants MEN to do his job, to serve HIM first and utmost, particularly when he has some purpose in mind for them.
And women want men to do what?
To serve THEIR interests first and utmost.
Why to be surprised then, when monotheistic religions ( Christianity including) put so many restrictions on women?
The only president I'd want to be married to is Josiah Bartlet ... and alas, he's a fictional character.

George W. Bush had a rough time competing with the popularity of the fictional president Josiah Bartlett, played by Martin Sheen, on "The West Wing". I heard many people say of Sheen's character, that he was the president they wanted.
But unfortunately, our system of producing presidents doesn't allow such a well-balanced and ideal individual to often make it through the gauntlet. If any such persons did succeed in reaching the office, the opposition would aggressively sabotage them. The concept of showing respect for a worthy opponent, is lost to history, if it ever really existed at all. Dirty tricks in politics is not something recently invented. Not just thousands of years ago were they pulling them, but I'd bet that even tribal politics in the Stone Age were underhanded and devious.
In addition to both Martha and George's reluctance to take on the roles of first lady and president, logistics was a big factor in Martha not being at the inauguration. While his election was largely inevitable, Washington was not informed of the results of the electoral college until April 14, 1789, and he left Mt. Vernon for New York two days later. While he had appointed his nephew to run the plantation in his absence, Martha was left with the task of moving the family household, including selecting and outfitting the slaves that would accompany the family to New York. She left for New York in mid-May.
