the Nazis passed some of the first "modern" anti drug laws in response to their view of the decadent drug fueled Wiemar republic..(Jewish nite-life)

amphetamine use and abuse was common during ww2 with ALL participants even on the home front as factories ran 24/7

Hitlers various doctors gave him dozens of drug combinations from ground bull ******* to pervertin (methamphetamine)
hitler had a bad stomach problem passing lots of gas which accounts for the belladonna (old-time treatment)

the chocolate brand mentioned actually had 3mg methamphetamine in each tasty morsel...upon Goerings arrest he was consuming 20 para-codon tablets daily..i have tried and tried to research para-codin to see if it was in fact percodan (oxycodone) but cannot find definitive answer...

Kennedy drug use is always mentioned however LBJ besides being a big boozer was seen to habitually suck on a Benzedrine inhaler while in the senate....

amphetamine use increases a soldiers bravado at first AND was looked at as a plus (days of no sleep of deteriorate performance)..the Nazis had problems with the SS extermination squads of the eastern front because many, many solders did not want to execute un armed people...Himmler while witnessing an execution had blood spattered on him and is said to have thrown up

Actually the Nazi's were fairly tolerant about drug use. So I'm surprised that this wasn't more widely known.

I've been looking for information about drug users being singled out for concentration camps and can't find any specific information. Perhaps if they were also Jewish or among the other "undesirables."

I know that people who were considered useless to society were often sent but both the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich considered drug addiction to be a curable illness.

Ummm…….no. Just…..no.

Some drugs Theodor Morell gave to Hitler:

Methamphetamine (as Pervitin and Vitamultin)

Brom-Nervacit (bromide, since August 1941 a spoonful almost every night, to counteract stimulation from methamphetamine and permit sleep.)

Cocaine and adrenaline (via eyedrops)

Eukodal or Eukodol (trade name for Oxycodone)

And some interesting concoctions from Morell:

Atropine (extract of seminal vesicles) : The seminal vesicles, vesicular glands, or seminal glands, are a pair of simple tubular glands posteroinferior to the urinary bladder of some male mammals. Seminal vesicles are located within the pelvis. They secrete fluid that partly composes the semen.

Atropa belladonna (2–4 pills with every meal, for a total of 8-16 tablets a day, in Doktor Koster's Antigaspills, a compound also containing strychnine)

And there's many more:

Regardless, it doesn't take drugs to reduce morality and empathy. We see many persons - in modern times and our own country - who are sober of intoxication, but drunk on racism and hatred of skin color. Better to look at that then some flimsy red herring employed for distraction.
Very good points. Drugs are always the distraction, it seems. When we ourselves have children being taken from their parents and held in deplorable conditions at our very own concentration camps.

when talking about drug policy one has to keep in mind the availability of prescription medications..china at one time declared NO drug problem..the wide spread availability of almost anything without prescription of perhaps with had some bearing
