Correct! Bertrada was named for her grandmother. Bertradsburg is the castle. It dates from after them, but is named for the older Bertrada. Your turn.

I was born in 1845.
I died from a drowning "accident" in 1886, although most people suspected it was a suicide. I was engaged but never married.
I spent much of my childhood at the family castle.
However, I did not sleep or eat in the castle, as that was for adults..I spent that time in the servant's quarters in a seprate building.
When I grew up, I built my "own" castle across the 'street', it was never totally finished. I spent many happy times there with Wagner.

Correct !!
Hohenschwangua (Castle of the High Swan County) is the old castle
Neuschwanstein is Ludwig's Fairy Tale Castle. It's the one Walt Disney used as his model..
Both are quite fantastic, I liked the old one better!!! They were both built on the foundatins of much older "real" defensive castles.

Your Turn!!!

As a young man, I was in the Prussian army & fled to London after the revolt. I made my way to Cincinatti, where I ran a German-language newspaper.

When the US Civil War broke out I trained the 9th Ohio. I made my name, however, as Col. of an Indiana regiment. My performance at Shiloh inspired a character in the book Ben-Hur.

I later led a brigade in the Army of the Ohio/XIV Corps/Army of the Cumberland.

Well, I'm going to give some Civil War buffs a chance, but if we don't get a response within a couple of hours, I'm going for it! Time's a ticking....
