I share my name with an American author, but I am an Irishman. My first book was set ablaze by the hangman in Dublin, but luckily I did not share its fate. Unfortunately, Ireland would have none of me, I spent most of my remaining years in England where I riled the masses by attacking the Jacobites, and advocating full and equal citizenship for Jews. My writing were overshadowed by other great thinkers, though I'm still recognized a freethinker. Look to the Druids--you well may find me.
Although born in Dallas Texas, our father moved us to a Southern State capital, where I studied and then went on to Boston University to study law, but didn't graduate. Later I graduated from North Carolina Central College in 1964. Active in civil rights, I later became the first Black mayor of a major Southern City and served 3 terms. Two consecutive terms and a third term. I unsuccessfully ran for Democratic National Committee chairman. .
It has been said that I was born in 1852 and lived until somewhere around my late 80's. I was known as a ladies man, but always took back seat to someone much more famous than I. Although I was an assistant surgeon in Afghanistan, I am much more famous for my narrations of my dear friend's adventures, but never became as famous as he. I lived with that friend at the world's most famous address.
My creator entered "the greatest and most glorious adventure of all" on July 7, 1930.
