You mean the kidnapper played by Liev Schreiber in Mel Gibson's film Ransom? Anyway, no, that's not the answer. If there is a famous historical Clark Barnes, you can write the Wikipedia article about him.

HINT: The "link" in the original clue (and my name) are in the title of a Johnny Mercer song.
Another HINT. My "minutes of fame" occurred on a Sunday, because the rightfully famous person refused to do it on the Sabbath. It was more than 15 minutes---it was the whole day.

Oh, okay, that would be David Atchison, the "real" 12th president when Taylor refused to be sworn on the Sabbath.
This threw me for a time because I was focused on the Jewish Sabbath, thinking you meant someone did something on a Sunday because the Jewish person had refused to do it on a Saturday. Then I remembered Atchison.
For the unsuccessful members of our studio audence, a consolation prize of some explanations. Count Dracula was not in his class at Transylvania College in Lexington, Kentucky, but all those other seantors were, as was President Jefferson Davis. Amelia Earhart was born and raised in Atchison, Kansas (named for David) and Johnny Mercer wrote the song "The Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe." about that now defunce railroad.
I'm an early 20th century novelist who wrote a series of books centered on the same character and his exploits which was set in the 18th century. His last name sounds like what his real profession was meant to discourage. He was Zorro like in that he operated behind a disguise. In the books, he was a smuggler for profit whose lawless career began when he sought revenge against the man who had seduced and run off with his wife.
An incredibly sanitized version of this was put on film by the Disney people who turned the character into a Robin Hood sort, smuggling to help the poor.
Hints.....the actor who portrayed the main character went on to two much more famous tv roles, one of which was the first of what became an entire genre.
I was the presdient of an American insurance company, and my name is well-know to everyone, but few people know who I was. A non-American is mainly responsible for making my name famous. Tomorrow (November 10) will be the anniversary oif the event that immortalized my name. There are about 6,000 names that could be famous for the same rason as mine, but none are.
