The stores about the Black Irish are also interesting. I was told that there were Spanish ships that were sunk by the the English about 500 years ago and the sailors swam to Ireland and were accepted. This is why some Irish have dark eyebrows and jet black hair. Any thoughts on this one?[/quote]

Yes, my husband is black Irish. He has pale white skin and dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. Not black though.
I am 100% Swedish and I have brown hair and brown eyes. It is just me and my mom that looks like that. The rest of the family is very Swedish looking. We even traced out family history back on both my parents side and found no evidence at all from anything but Swedish and Danish blood. Scandinavia 1000 years ago was even blonder then now days but I am one of the odd balls!Go ME!

Regarding "Black Irish", no, that story only exists in the U.S. and is foreign to the people who reside in Ireland. Irish and Britishers who have somewhat darker traits (e.g. Sean Connery) look as the proto-Celtics did, because the original Celtics who settled North Western Europe were from the Iberian Peninsula (i.e. Spain and Portugal).

Really, are you sure? 100% Sure?

In Sweden it's pronounced Tor. But on your other point I will not argue.

My godfather, a native of Norway, had that name, and spelled it and pronounced it Tor.
By the way--he had brown hair and brown eyes.

How can you not know Thor (Tor ), God of thunder, throwing his hammer, mjolnir, ( mjölner ).
I love Tor! But he loves Freya ( Freja )

If I'm correct, the average Portuguese is like a tenth black due to the slave trade.
