If I read this correctly, the Golden Bull spelled out the seven men who made up the Imperial diet. Collectively they were Kingdom, Duchies, Counts and the Mark of ?

If this be true, what is a Diet? Is it the peoples under the direct contorl of the Imperial diet? If not, can someone explain it, please.

Not really my subject but here's what I know :

The Imperial Diet ( Reichstag in German or Diete Imperiale in French ) was a kind of political "assembly" for the Holy Roman Germanic Empire. It was basically an organisation which dealt with all issues pertaining to members ( Nobles, City states and Clerical Princes) and one which was used to try and find conciliation and settle any differences between them .

As far as I know its seat was pretty changeable ( recorded places were Aix la Chapelle under Charlemagne, Roncaglia and places like Nurnberg, Augsburg or Ratisbonne and it started as a "union" of Germanic Dukes which made up the Frankish Kingdom, following the ancient Germanic laws.

It followed a fairly complex legal system.

Don't forget the Diet of Worms! (how could anyone forget that, ugh!)

It's one of my favorites, right up there with The Defenestration of Prague.

(the word diet gets confusing for modern English speakers, it relates to day-though such assemblies lasted a lot longer than one day-diets were convened for various purposes, over the years)
