Nobody has ever served any days as "president AND vice president". Well, LBJ, one day as president AND vice president. I worded it correctly. Most days of his life in which he was one or the other.

Nixon is correct. He was either president OR vice-president on 4,947 days. Roosevelt was either president or vice president on 4,422 days.

During WW2, one USN 12" BB participated in the war effort by firing her guns in anger. What was her name and hull number?

I gather you mean what battle ship equipped with 12 inch guns, since the USN had no 12 inch battleships.

I'm also guessing that this would be a reference to one of the WW I era dreadnought style warships which had been replaced before WW II. One of them managed to get into some action once before hitting the scrapyards.

I don't know, and it doesn't look like anyone else does.

You're kidding! And here all this time I thought the USN once had a fleet of foot long battleships.

The things you learn in this forum.

The length of a term in office by a President of the United States is 1,461 days. There have been two presidents who completed a full term which lasted less than 1,461 days. Who were they, and what shortened the term?

Probably built in the same shipyard as the LFMB's often used when I was in the Navy, to ferry off-duty crewmen ashore. Many's the time I drew my pay and headed ashore in an LFMB ("Little F**kin' Motor Boat")...the unsung 'workhorse of the fleet'....

Those 12" BB's must have been remotely operated...or they must have had VERY small crews...

One would have been Franklin Roosevelt, whose first term began on March 4, 1933 prior to the switch of Inauguration Day to January 20. So his first term was actually a month and a half shorter than anyone else's.

And the other, George Washington--who wasn't inaugurated until the end of April, 1789 (a technicality, owing to less than ideal transportation at the time!) His first term ended on the regularly prescribed date of March 3, 1793.

Roosevelt is correct. In the case of Washington, I claim the technicality that his term was the prescribed duration, but he did not serve the full term owing to an irregularity of execution. Hence, Washington did not serve "his full term". The other one I am looking for took office on the correct date and left office on the correct date, but the term was not the full number of days. Which can be blamed on a Pope.
