The most the USA produced in one year was a staggering 86,000. The UK did not need to outdo Germany in production as the USA was producing aircraft in dizzying quantities. About a third of planes made were trainers as pilots were being trained at an amazing rate. The US provided much of the training planes.

"At the Battle of France, Prof Adam Tooze claims...."
You can stop right there. His claims are wrong. Every credible source I can find on the subject contradicts his claims.
From Encyclopedia Britannica: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/511222/The-Royal-Air-Force-RAF"
"At the outbreak of
World War II in September 1939, the first-line strength of the RAF in the United Kingdom was about 2,000 aircraft. The RAF fighter pilots, however, distinguished themselves during the
Battle of Britain in the early stages of the war against the numerically superior German Luftwaffe. "
If your claims are true, how is it that the British were numerically inferior on their home turf?
"In May 1940 the French received 500 US made planes. "
Do you have a source to back that up? Besides Tooze? This sounds like something you pulled out of thin air.
"The RAF established air superiority over Dunkirk."
Yes, but Dunkirk was one tiny battle within Western Europe. You ignore the greater theatre. The Luftwaffe established total air dominance over all of France/Low Countries except for the small Dunkirk pocket. Yes, the British defended Dunkirk at all costs in order to avoid annihilation of their armies.
"Tooze says about the Battle of Britain, "in retrospect it seems an extremely one sided affair"."
Nobody is refuting the British prevailed. You take it 2 steps further with that comment. You are just as delusional as Tooze.
"The most the USA produced in one year was a staggering 86,000. The UK did not need to outdo Germany in production as the USA was producing aircraft in dizzying quantities. Oh, so now we are including the U.S.? LOL. You keep moving the goalposts. Are we arguing the Battle of France in 1940? Or World War 2 in general? Are we arguing 1940? Or 1939-1945? Pick one argument and stick with it. The U.S. hadn't even entered the war yet in 1940, so you're using faulty facts to support your argument. You are relying on grounded planes not involved in combat to substantiate your assertions.
I have proven you wrong with sources in multiple threads. You keep arguing the same debunked arguments and quoting the same obscure author. I proved you wrong on Panzer units in the other thread. You keep running from one silly comment to the next.
