Yes, but it is easy to narrow down what a 'Viking' is since they were geographically, culturally and genetically circumscribed to a very narrow time period, geography and material culture.

A 'Celtic Warrior' could be a 1st century slinger from Asia Minor, a two-handed claymore wielding Highlander from 16th century Scotland or a rifle wielding IRA activist from 1991.

Narrow down your time frame and geography and you will probably get a better slew of half-informed answers :-)

I don't know who would win in a fight, but the Celts made better music.

There is very little surviving evidence for the music from the medieval Norse world. There is a fragment of a Christian tune from the late 10th century titled, "I dreamt me a dream" and there are a few fragments of musical instruments, bits of a lyre and a panflute-like thing. There are those who assert that Welsh 'part singing' is derived from a Norse singing style but I doubt there will ever be the evidence to prove it.

I'm not sure what medieval 'Celtic' music was like but I'm pretty sure most of the surviving evidence is for church music, plainchant, et al.

If I may ask, RobE, what are your sources for 'Celtic' music?

viking? weren't the celts puny? if the celts includes the scots... then i would say... hmmm the scotsman would probably live although the two would probably fight to the death of both... the scotsman would breathe longer, i bet... out of stubbornness.

Look up the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. Not bad for a few puny celts.

I liked the description that the roman historian Dio Cassius said of the Iceni Queen Boudica around 60 A.D. as she led her tribespeople into battle and who almost succeeded in conquering the Romans who occupied lower Britain since Julius Ceasar.

''She was tall and a terrible site to see and gifted with a powerful voice with a flood of bright red hair which ran down to her knees and she took up a long spear that cause dread in all who set eyes on her''
