Pre-colonial history of Africa is one of the world's best-kept secrets. Very few people, even among those with a keen layman's interest in history, have ever even wondered what was going on on that continent before Europeans arrived.

Most people have not enrolled in any courses in African American Studies,, so it could be news to most people.

It might be news to you to learn that people who have enrolled in courses in the history or Indochina will not be surprised when told that IndoChina has a rich history. I wonder what could account for that seemingly paradoxical coincidence. I don't know what we would do without a watchdog informing us that people who have studied a specialized history of a certain place are no longer surprised by the history of that place after completing the course.

Following me around from forum to forum ridiculing everything I say must be really a lor of fun, right?

There are many reasons for this but I think one thing that affects the teaching of sub saharan African history is that most of it's pre-colonial peoples didn't have writing so many of these Africans don't have written records of their history. This does put some limits on what and how much we can learn about these people.

According to Clyde A. Winters and other writers (see Clyde A. Winters website), the Mende script was discovered on some of the ancient Olmec monuments of Mexico and were found to be identical to the very same script used by the Mende people of West Africa. Although the carbon fourteen testing date for the presence of the Black Olmecs or Xi People is about 1500 B.C.,

Have you ever consider employment as a grounds keeper with a stadium because you are very adept at moving goal posts.

You stated that "very few" people have studied pre-colonial Africa, not most, but very few. So when I post that there is a significant body of work produced by quite a few scholars and researchers, not just in the field of African studies, but anthropology and archeology as well who have examined the period for quite a few years, your rejoinder that "most people" haven't is hardly a worthy rebuttal.

Be careful with Clyde Winter's information. I have questions about his accuracy. The Mende people didn't have a writing system until it was developed by Kisimi Kamara in 1921.

Kisimi Kamara - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Writting believed to be the Olmec's wasn't discovered until 1999.
